Toronto FC and Tigres UANL will be on-field rivals for the inaugural Campeones Cup on Wednesday night (8 pm ET on Univision, UDN; 8:30 pm ET on ESPN2, TSN1 and TVAS2), but on Tuesday afternoon they teamed up for a good cause.
Players from both clubs – Toronto FC trio Alex Bono, Marky Delgado and Nick Hagglund together with Tigres players Guido Pizarro, Jorge Torres Nilo and Julian Quiñones – paid a special visit to children at the Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, distributing gifts and joining over 70 children for games and activities.
As part of the initiative, MLS and Liga MX also donated $10,000 to the hospital's concussion center, which provides care and expertise in concussion prevention.
The event is a byproduct of the partnership between MLS and Liga MX on social responsibility efforts that drive social change in local communities and across borders – a highlight of the multi-year collaboration between the two leagues.
