The final match-up in the West 2 group of this year’s Leagues Cup will see Seattle Sounders FC host CF Monterrey, with a play-off spot on the line for both teams. The Rayados are looking to carry over the impressive form that saw them finish top of the LIGA MX Clausura 2023 regular season, and start the new campaign unbeaten so far.

The hosts, on the other hand, will need to make amends after a 3-0 defeat to Real Salt Lake in their first match of the summer tournament. In league play, the Sounders are nevertheless on track for a spot in the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs, given they currently sit in fourth place in the Western Conference.

CF Monterrey are in a commanding position to qualify for the knockouts, as they currently sit top of West 2 with three points. Any result other than a defeat in regulation time will see them top the group. The MLS side will need to win and overturn a three-goal deficit to advance.

Which teams make up West 2?

The pair are joined by Real Salt Lake in the West 2 group of Leagues Cup. The Utah side won their first match in the tournament against the Sounders by a convincing 3-0 margin, but then fell to CF Monterrey by that same margin four days later.
