CF Montreal was founded in 1992 in the city of Montreal, Quebec, by the Saputo family, who also owned the defunct Montreal Supra of the Canadian Soccer League.
In 2011 MLS commissioner Don Garber announced that Montreal would become the 19th franchise in MLS for the 2012 season.
They currently occupy tenth place in the Eastern Conference, having won nine games, drawn two and lost twelve after 23 rounds.
CF Montreal will be part of the group, **East 2**, along with Pumas and D.C. United. Their first match will be on July 22 against Pumas at Saputo Stadum at 19:30 hrs. ET.

Romell Quioto: The Honduran who conquered Montreal
In addition to shining since the MLS is Back tournament, the 31-year-old Honduran has become one of the top assisters and goal scorers in domestic action since for Montreal.
The forward has won the hearts of his club's fans with his charisma and the impetus he puts into every ball he plays on the field. The Canadian team need him to perform in in this Leagues Cup.
Nathan Saliba: Called to greatness
Nathan-Dylan Saliba, 16, played for CS Longueuil before joining the Academy in 2017. He also played with the U-23 team. He was selected to represent Canada at the 2016 Danone Nations Cup in Paris. He was also a member of the U-15 national team at the Concacaf tournament in 2019.
Nathan-Dylan can play in any position in the midfield. He has shown a very steady progression since joining the Academy. He is a complete player, an athlete capable of adapting to every situation, thanks to his winning mentality.
