Club América made their debut in Leagues Cup 2023 on 27 July at CITYPARK, defeating St. Louis City SC in a dominant 4-0 win in favor of Las Águilas.
As the season progresses, the team coached by André Jardine are improving their style of play and their passing ability. Whilst this is a usual course of events over the last few years, new signings have given the Coapa side a new lease of life: especially Kevin Álvarez and Julián Quiñones.
It is precisely these two who have been in the spotlight due to their quick understanding with the rest of the squad and also because in the two games in which they have been on the pitch together, they have been able to score. First they scored against Puebla in LIGA MX matchday 3 and now they repeated the formula in their Leagues Cup debut.
With this victory, Club América move into first place in the Central 1 group, and already assure themselves a place in the next round. They will only have to use the next match against Columbus Crew as a means of finding out which position they will advance and continue their quest to extend their enviable record by lifting the Leagues Cup trophy.
