The pressure will be on the home team, San Jose Earthquakes, who need to win in order to move on to the knockout stage. In its first match of Leagues Cup 2023, San Jose fell to Portland Timbers 2-0.

To advance, Club Tigres could win or draw (the result of the penalty shootout wouldn’t matter). Despite falling behind early against Portland Timbers in their Leagues Cup debut, Tigres took advantage of Portland losing a man and eventually came away with a 2-1 win.

Which clubs make up the Group West 1?

Thanks to its Leagues Cup debut win over San Jose, Portland Timbers are already through to the knockout round. Whether or not they win the group will be determined by the Club Tigres-San Jose result.
