Club Tigres wants to show off its LIGA MX champion title against Vancouver Whitecaps

Club Tigres, the defending LIGA MX Clausura champions, will face off against Vancouver Whitecaps FC this Friday, August 4, for the Leagues Cup 2023 round of 32.

Los Felinos qualified with a perfect record to top Group West 1. They won in their debut 2-1 against Portland Timbers. Then they beat the San José Earthquakes 1-0.

The Whitecaps finished second in Group West 3 after earning a draw in regulation with Club León and beating the LA Galaxy.

In their debut match, they drew with Club León 2-2 before battling in a 19-round penalty kick shootout, losing 16-15. Against the Galaxy, the team turned their fortunes around ith two late goals (81st and 91st minutes) to earn the win and the ticket to the round of 32.

The winner of this match will face the winner of Monterrey CF vs. Portland Timbers, meaning we could potentially get a Regiomontano Classic matchup in the round of 16.
