Club Tijuana vs Querétaro sees two sibling clubs vying for Leagues Cup progression

Tijuana Queretaro

The latest round of Leagues Cup action will feature only the second all-Mexican match-up in what is a decisive clash between Club Tijuana and Querétaro

Whilst the stakes are already high for the two LIGA MX sides, another layer of intrigue is added to the suspense of the match: the two sides are owned by the same company.

The Grupo Caliente are one of the largest betting companies in Mexico, who recently also became sponsors of the Mexican national team as well as LIGA MX itself. Tijuana is the location of the company's main branch, and considered the "older brother" in the relationship with Querétaro.

However, the underdogs of the sibling rivalry won last time out in LIGA MX, beating Tijuana two goals to one thanks to goals from Zuniga, and Sepulveda. With both teams having lost against Philadelphia Union, the winner of the match will qualify for knockouts of Leagues Cup 2022 - whether this be in the 90 minutes or via penalties.
