The Leagues Cup 2023 Round of 32 kicks off this Wednesday, August 2, with FC Dallas hosting Mazatlán FC at Toyota Stadium for a spot in the last 16 of the tournament. The two teams will be meeting for the first time ever.
FC Dallas finished second in the South 4 group, despite starting their campaign with a defeat on penalties to Charlotte FC. They bounced back in the following fixture and saw off Club Necaxa with a convincing 3-0 win, which sealed their spot in the knockout rounds.
As for their opponents, Mazatlán FC hit the ground running with a 3-1 win over Austin FC, and would then go on to beat FC Juárez on penalties after the match ended 1-1- in regulation time. Having won both of their matches, the LIGA MX side was able to claim top spot in the South 1 pool.
The winner of this Wednesday’s match-up will take on either Orlando City SC, or Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami CF, with the two Florida outfits facing off in their Round of 32 clash.
