FC Dallas Leagues Cup: the young prospect and the star you must follow

Arriola

FC Dallas was originally founded in 1996 under the name of Dallas Burn, and play in the Western Conference of MLS. The Toros are yet to reach 20 years of existence, but have already won four titles. This Leagues Cup is the ideal opportunity for the Texas team to lift a trophy again after a seven-year drought.

FC Dallas are in South 4, along with Club Necaxa and Charlotte FC. Their first game will be on July 21, during the first day of the competition against Charlotte FC at Toyota Stadium, at 8:30 p.m.

Paul Arriola: A proven leader

Paul Arriola is a full USMNT international and captain of FC Dallas at the age of 28. He began his career at DC United, then moving to Tijuana thanks to the fact that he acquired Mexican dual nationality through his great-grandparents who were born in Mexico. He later  moved to FC Dallas and has since been an emblematic figure.

Arriola is versatile enough to play as a striker and midfielder, but he almost always plays on the wing. As a predominantly right-footed player, he uses his speed and creativity to produce dangerous scoring chances from the outside with strong runs and clever passing. He has won two Gold Cup’s with the USMNT in his career and will now look to add Leagues Cup 2023 with his club side, FC Dallas.

Jésus Ferreira: Naturalized Talent

Ferreira signed as a youth player for FC Dallas in 2016. He made his professional debut on June 3, 2017, in a 6-2 win over Real Salt Lake andmade an instant impact by scoring his first goal in the 89th minute. In 2018 he was loaned to Tuls Roughnecks FC of the USL and in the 2019 MLS season, Ferreira returned to be part of FC Dallas.

He is Colombian by birth and was naturalized as an American citizen in 2020. Today he is considered the biggest talent at FC Dallas and the 2023 Leagues Cup will put this theory to the test.
