Inter Miami CF have continued their impressive summer recruitment campaign by announcing the arrival of 20-year-old Argentinian attacking midfielder Facundo Farías from Santa Fe’s Colón.
Having already brought in international stars in the signings of Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, the Florida outfit have opted to go for youth for their fourth arrival of the summer.
Messi’s compatriot has signed a contract which will keep him in Florida through the 2026 season, with options for the following two campaigns as well. He will join as part of the U-22 MLS initiative, and will see his move finalised once he receives his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and P-1 Visa.
The Albiceleste youth international broke back in 2021 with his formative club, and has gone on to make just under a century of appearances for Colón. In 2022, he scored eight goals in all competitions, including three in the Copa Libertadores.
Farías himself spoke shortly after the move was confirmed, and indicated that he was keen to be a part of the team’s growing project: “I’m very pleased to make this move. Inter Miami is a big club with incredible ambition and I am excited to be a part of the project alongside great players, coaches and staff.”
A debut at Leagues Cup 2023?
Inter Miami have advanced to the Leagues Cup Round of 32 after topping the South 3 pool, having beaten both Cruz Azul and Atlanta United with Lionel Messi finding the back of the net in both match-ups.
This means that Farías could be in for a swift debut with his new club, given the playoff stage begins on August 2. According to Leagues Cup regulations, teams can register new players in their tournament roster up until August 11, before the quarter-finals kick off.
