We are just under two weeks away from the start of Leagues Cup 2023. LIGA MX and Major League Soccer teams both continue to be active in their leagues, seeking to arrive into the tournament in the best possible form. Here's what happened on Matchday 2 of the 2023 Apertura.

Club Puebla 2-3 Club Santos Laguna

After a tough start to the season for Los Laguneros saw them lose in the last ten minutes of their first match, they bounced back on Matchday 2. Harold Preciado notched a double, while Juan Brunetta scored the winning goal.

Club Necaxa 1-1 Club Tijuana

This was a dramatic point for Los Rayos. They were close to losing, but a goal from Alan Montes in stoppage time allowed them to snatch a point.

Cruz Azul 0-2 Toluca FC

A tough start to the 2023 Apertura for La Máquina continued with their second loss in a row. Thiago Volpi scored a goal from the penalty spot, while Juan Pablo Domínguez added a second in injury time.

Chivas de Guadalajara 3-1 Atlético San Luis

Los Rojiblancos they took advantage of a red card in the first 20 minutes of the game, to get their second win of the tournament. Yael Padilla, Fernando Beltrán and Ronaldo Cisneros scored the goals for El Rebaño Sagrado.

FC Juárez 1-1 Club Tigres

The champions still have not won yet in the 2023 Apertura. Luis Quiñones scored for the visitors, but Amaury Escoto equalized in the last 15 minutes of the match.

Pumas 0-0 Mazatlán

The hosts followed their opening round win in Tijuana with a scoreless draw at home to Mazatlán.

CF Monterrey 1-0 Atlas FC

Rayados recorded a narrow win at home against Atlas as John Stefan Medina scored the game's only goal.

Club León 4-0 Club Pachuca

The Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League champions bounced back from a loss in the opening round with a comprehensive win over Pachuca.  Iván Moreno, Stiven Barreiro, Jesús Angulo and Brian Rubio scored for the hosts.
