There are only two games left until the 2023 Clausura ends and Matchday 15 was full of emotion. In the Clásico Joven, América defeated Cruz Azul, Chivas moved into fourth place, while Pumas moved into the playoff positions. Here’s our recap of Matchday 15:
Atlético de San Luis 2-0 Juárez: It was a very important victory for the hosts as they look for a place in the play-offs. Unai Bilbao and Vitinho scored the goals for Atlético, who are in tenth place on 18 points.
Necaxa 1-1 Puebla: This draw was of little use to both teams, although they still have a chance to sneak into the playoffs. La Franja has the same points as the 11th and 12th place sides in the table, while the Rayos are three points further back.
Mazatlán 1-2 Xolos: It was a first victory for the visitors in six games thanks to two penalties scored by Pedro Alexis Canelo. Those three points will give Miguel "Piojo" Herrera’s team a chance to dream of the playoffs.
Atlas 4-1 Pachuca: The Rojinegros are back in the playoff places with their third win. Thanks to a double by Julián Quiñones, plus goals from Oziel Herrera and Julio Furch, Atlas are now in eleventh place with 17 points.
León 0-2 Chivas: It was a great game between two teams that are battling hard to qualify for the Liguilla. Los Rojiblancos now have two wins in a row and are fourth place on 28 points thanks to the two assists by Alexis Vega, setting up Pavel Pérez and Rubén González.
Cruz Azul 1-3 América: Las Águilas find themselves in second thanks to a great performance at the Azteca. Despite the fact that they went behind, the hosts battled back with a brace from Alejandro Zendejas and a great goal from Henry Martín.
Pumas 3-1 Toluca: It was a second consecutive victory for the hosts with Antonio Mohamed on the bench. A header from Juan Ignacio Dinenno, another great goal from César “Chino” Huerta and a penalty from Eduardo “Toto” Salvio gave the victory to Pumas, who are now in 12th place.
Querétaro 0-0 Tigres: The visitors are going through a bit of a rough patch, having not won in seven games. Robert Dante Siboldi had his first game in charge in Liga MX for Tigres but they couldn't beat Gallos on the road.
Monterrey 1-2 Santos: This was Los Rayados' third defeat in the Clausura and second in a row. After losing to América in the last round, they have now lost at home to Santos, who had goals from Juan Brunetta and Harold Preciado.
