MATCHDAY 6: Goals reign supreme across four Leagues Cup matches

PORTLAND 4, COLORADO 0

The Portland Timbers closed out the group stage of the Leagues Cup in style, dominating the Colorado Rapids with a 4-0 victory at Providence Park. With this win, the Timbers tied the tournament leaders for the most goals scored with six, while Evander matched the top spot for assists with three. The Timbers doubled their points total from last season’s Leagues Cup.

The Timbers, now winners of the West 5 group, await the outcome of the last match in West 3 to determine their next opponent and location. Should St. Louis CITY lose to FC Juarez, Portland will play away at CITYPARK. If Juarez loses, the Timbers will host the match at Providence Park.

Toluca debuted in the 2024 Leagues Cup with a 3-1 win over Chicago Fire FC on Thursday night at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview.

The win not only clinched a berth in the knockouts for both Toluca and Sporting Kansas City in group 4 West, it also served notice that Los Diablos Rojos are serious contenders to lift the Leagues Cup.

SALT LAKE 2, ATLAS 1

Despite missing their captain, Real Salt Lake handed Atlas FC its first loss of the season on Thursday night in a thrilling 2-1 comeback victory at America First Field to throw group West 8 wide open heading into the final matchday.
