Maximiliano Meza with a clear objective in Leagues Cup 2023: "Let's go for glory"

Monterrey midfielder Maximiliano Meza (11) pumps his fist in celebration after scoring a goal against the Portland Timbers

Maximiliano Meza, CF Monterrey’s top players, assured that he has "extra motivation" for playing all  away games in the Leagues Cup 2023. The Argentine midfielder is already thinking about this Tuesday's duel against Club Tigres in the Clásico Regio , for a place in the Quarterfinals: "Let's go for glory."

The LIGA MX side arrives after beating the Portland Timbers 1-0 in the round of 32. Meza was the lone scorer of the match.

After the match, the right winger warned that Rayados were "going for Leagues Cup 2023" and acknowledged that the title will have a "double" value for  LIGA MX teams because of playing the entire tournament on the road.

“Personally, I have been surprised by some matches and some brackets that MLS teams have advanced, but I have also played two CONCACAF Championships and we have faced teams from here,” he said “We knew that when we played as a visitor it was a difficult game because they asserted their locality, but we were also aware that if we went to Mexico that was where we made the difference.”

In addition, prior to the match against Club Tigres, he assured: “It is a totally different tournament, we already knew that this was the format, we were already prepared. To come out champion playing all the away games would be a double value, an extra motivation. Let's go for that glory."

In this way, CF Monterrey will face Club Tigres for a place in the Quarterfinals. Whoever wins will face the winner of Los Angeles Football Club and Real Salt Lake. Do you think that a Mexican team will be able to win the Leagues Cup 2023?
