Despite just six matches having been played this weekend in Major League Soccer, there was plenty of action, from a top-drawer clash in Nashville, to a last-minute winner for Carlos Vela in Kansas City. Here’s our recap of all six matches:

New York City FC 1-1 Columbus Crew

Gabriel Segal scored his second goal of the season in the third minute of added time to snatch a point for the hosts against a short-handed Crew side, who saw their three-match winning run snapped in the absence of Lucas Zelarayán.

D.C. United 1-2 Real Salt Lake

Pablo Ruiz will have stolen the headlines with a goal scored from inside his own half, but this was a thoroughly entertaining match. The hosts had Steven Birnbaum sent off less than twenty minutes into the match but battled hard for a result, scoring through Chris Durkin early in the second half.

New England Revolution 3-1 Orlando City

Gustavo Bou scored for the first time since March, adding an assist as the hosts won their second straight to move into third place. In-form Carles Gil added his second goal in as many matches five minutes from time, while Duncan McGuire scored the visitors’ only goal.

Sporting Kansas City 1-2 Los Angeles Football Club

Alan Pulido scored for the fourth time in three games, netting from the penalty spot in the first half, but it wasn’t enough to prevent the visitors from getting back to winning ways. Denil Maldonaldo equalized just after the break, before Carlos Vela sealed the win in stoppage time.

Nashville SC 3-1 St. Louis CITY SC

Hany Mukhtar continued his torrid run of scoring with a hat trick as the hosts comfortably beat visiting St. Louis as the hosts finished with ten men following Kyle Hiebert’s second booking. Nicholas Gioacchini pulled the visitors level ahead of the break, but Mukhtar scored twice in five minutes in the second half to give the hosts all three points.

San Jose Earthquakes 0-0 Portland Timbers

This match ended scoreless, but it wasn’t for a lack of effort on either side. Daniel impressed in goal for the hosts with his third clean sheet in four matches, while San Jose dominated possession but weren’t able to find a way past David Bingham.
