Leagues Cup 2023 brings together the best teams from Mexico, the United States and Canada. A total of 47 clubs, competing in LIGA MX and Major League Soccer, will seek to be the best team in North America. During the tournament, there were ten clashes between LIGA MX and MLS. Who won?

In the first game of the second set of group stage matches, Club Santos and Houston Dynamo played to a 2-2 draw. The LIGA MX side took the extra point following a 5-4 win in the penalty shootout.

On the same day, MLS side FC Dallas beat Club Necaxa 3-0 and punched their ticket to the round of 32. LIGA MX suffered another loss when Club Querétaro fell to the Philadelphia Union 5-1, and the Union made it into the round of 32.

MLS side New England Revolution slayed LIGA MX side Atlético San Luis but the same score (5-1), advancing to the next stage.

On Wednesday, CF Monterrey represented LIGA MX well, defeated Real Salt Lake, 3-0. Club León carried the torch in later in the evening, earning three points against LA Galaxy following a 1-0 win.

In the night cap, Club Tigres beat Portland Timbers 2-1 in a hard fought battle. In the 44th minute of that match, Portland’s Evander de Silva Ferreira received his second yellow, and Tigres played the rest of the match up a man.

On Thursday night, LIGA MX side Toluca FC defeated MLS side Nashville SC in their Leagues Cup debut, 4-3, in a thrilling match at GEODIS Park.

Toluca FC will now have to play Colorado Rapids with the peace of mind that they already have their spot in the knockout stage, but wanting to win Group Central 4.

In Thursday’s last match, SC Club América debuted with a 3-0 win over St. Louis City. St. Louis became the first team eliminated from this League Cup 2023. Américq is preparing for the second game of the group stage, but is already through to the knockout stage.

Finally on Friday, FC Cincinnati and Chivas de Guadalajara finally finished their match which had begun on Thursday night, but was delayed due to inclement weather. FC Cincinnati closed out an impressive 3-1 win.

With this result, FC Cincinnati won the group en route to the round of 32. They earned two points in their first match, a 2-2 draw followed by a 4-2 penalty shootout win.

Throughout the entire tournament, MLS clubs have won in ten matches against LIGA MX competition.
