Nahuel Guzmán had promised surprises in response to the new rules announced by FIFA, and he delivered. The Argentine goalkeeper played the hero during the penalty shootout that his team, Club Tigres, had against Vancouver Whitecaps in the Round of 32 of the Leagues Cup 2023. With a magical performance and a save against Ranko Veselinovic, he secured his team's spot in the round of 16.

"I have some surprises for the tournament. Hopefully, they won't start penalizing us, so you can see what I'm going to do. Our resources to gain an advantage over penalty takers are running out," the 'Patón' (Nahuel Guzmán's nickname) said during a press conference on July 13.

On Friday, August 4, we finally witnessed the 'Patón's' strategy. He showcased his skills as a magician and mime, managing to confuse his opponent and save a penalty.

The 'Patón' is known for his ability to distract opponents during penalties, leading many players to make mistakes. However, the recent changes to the penalty rules aim to put an end to such practices. Yet, as we have seen, Nahuel Guzmán still finds a way to gain an advantage in his position.
