Orlando City in Leagues Cup: the young prospect and the star to follow

ORLANDO CITY TEAM

Orlando City is a club synonymous with entertainment and goals. They currently find themselves within reach of qualifying for the final phase of the Eastern Conference in MLS and are hoping to build momentum in this edition of Leagues Cup.

Orlando City is a franchise that barely has 10 years of existence within MLS under its belt. They are in South 2 of the Leagues Cup with Club Santos Laguna and Houston Dynamo FC. The presentation of the team led by Oscar Pareja will be the first match of the tournament. It will be played at Exploria Stadium on July 21 at 7:30 p.m. ET against Houston Dynamo FC. Their last game will be played on July 29, against Club Santos Laguna, also at 7:30 p.m. ET at Exploria Stadium.

How are Orlando City looking, going into their Leagues Cup games?

The current situation of Orlando City is not the best, but it is not disastrous either.

Orlando City triumphed in the 2022 US Open Cup last season and managed to reach the 2022 MLS Cup Playoffs, but were eliminated in the first round by CF Montréal. They’re currently in seventh position in the Eastern Conference of MLS with a record of 22 games played, 9 wins, 7 draws and 6 losses. They have 32 goals for and 27 against. At 11 points from first place, they’ll be seeking to improve their numbers to get into the fight for the championship.

Pedro Gallese: Orlando City legend

Goalkeeper Pedro David Gallese Quiroz hasn’t earned a place in the top 10 players in the history of Orlando City for no reason. In December 2019, Gallese made the step to MLS by joining Orlando City. His arrival bolstered the team's defense, and he quickly became a vital part of the roster. Gallese's shot-stopping abilities and leadership on the field made him a fan favorite in Orlando.

Gallese has two Team of The Week nominations, was nominated for the Golden Glove, and for the MLS Is Back XI.

Ramiro Enrique: the future of Orlando

Argentina is one of the most important talent hotbeds in the world. Ramiro is the son of former River Plate midfielder Héctor Enrique and is an attacker with great mobility and speed, with the ability to create chances up front. His versatility provides plenty of options for his team to unleash his attacking creativity. At just 22 years of age, he is the present and future of Orlando City.
