Charlotte FC will be travelling this Tuesday evening to take on Houston Dynamo FC at Leagues Cup 2023, with the two sides set to battle it out for a spot in the competition’s quarter-finals.
The North Carolina side began their campaign with a penalty shoot-out win over FC Dallas, after the game had finished 2-2 in regulation time. For their second match-up, they resoundingly beat Club Necaxa 4-1 and claimed top spot in the South 4 group. They came out on top in another spot-kick session in the round of 32 when they saw off Cruz Azul
Houston Dynamo FC have also become penalty shoot-out regulars of late, having seen every one of their games so far at Leagues Cup finish that way. They first lost 5-4 to Orlando City SC after a 1-1 draw in 90 minutes, before beating Santos Laguna 5-4 (after a 2-2 draw) and then got the better of Club Pachuca 5-3 (0-0 in regulation time).
The winner of tonight’s clash will go up against Inter Miami CF, who also needed a penalty shoot-out to see off FC Dallas to advance to the quarter-finals.
