Lionel Messi is three wins away from earning his first U.S. title with Inter Miami FC. He’s already provided incredible moments throughout Leagues Cup 2023 and this Friday he has the opportunity to create more memories at DRV PNK Stadium.

Inter Miami CF is unbeaten in four matches through the tournament. The club won both of its group stage matches, 2-1 against Cruz Azul and 4-0 over Atlanta United. Then in the round of 32 they defeated in-state rival Orlando City SC 3-1. Their biggest challenge was in the round of 16 against FC Dallas, where the club needed a late Messi equalizer to make it 4-4 and send it to penalties before advancing with a 5-4 penalty shootout win.

Charlotte FC also comes into the match without a loss, albeit with much less fanfare. The club beat FC Dallas and Club Necaxa in the group stage. Then they eliminated Cruz Azul in penalties in the round of 32. They also came very close to defeat in the round of 16, but two late goals within minutes of each other gave them a 2-1 win over Houston Dynamo.
