**Leagues Cup 2023** is underway and, in less than a week of competition, it has given us plenty of emotion. The rivalry between Major League Soccer and LIGA MX continues to grow as the action takes place around the United States and Canada.
Minnesota United's 4-0 win over Club Puebla made us wonder what the biggest wins for MLS teams against LIGA MX teams are – here are the answers:
Los Angeles Football Club 3-0 Club León
In the 2020 Concacaf Champions League, León and LAFC met in the round of 16. After La Fiera won 2-0 in the first leg, Carlos Vela and Diego Martín Rossi responded to eliminate the Liga MX side from the tournament.
New England Revolution 3-0 Pumas
In the quarterfinals of the 2022 Concacaf Champions League, the Revolution welcomed UNAM to Gillette Stadium in the first leg of the tie. The result would be more than favorable for New England, who 3-0 with a double from Adam Buksa and another goal from Sebastian Lletget. In the second leg, Pumas would recover and win, 3-0, going through on penalties.
LA Galaxy 4-1 Club Santos Laguna
The only MLS team to have scored four goals against a LIGA MX team until Sunday is one of the league’s most successful historically – LA Galaxy. This happened in the preliminary round of the 1997 Concacaf Champions Cup, when the Galaxy beat the Laguneros in Los Angeles.
Club Puebla 0-4 Minnesota United FC
It was a painful defeat for La Franja to start off Leagues Cup 2023. The Loons dominated, as the Argentine Emanuel Reynoso shone with a brace and an assist.
