Club León vs. Vancouver Whitecaps FC, Leagues Cup: stage, kick-off time, squads and how to watch

LeonvVancouver

Club León will kick off their 2023 Leagues Cup campaign with a challenging encounter against Vancouver Whitecaps Football Club. The Mexican powerhouse, fresh off their triumph in the 2023 CONCACAF Cup, aims to continue their winning ways.

That will be a tough task against the two-time defending Canadian champions Whitecaps FC. While the club sits at 7th place in the west, they come into Leagues Cup 2023 having won its last two matches and earning a win or draw in six of their last eight matches.

Whitecaps FC have also lost just two of their 13 matches at BC Place.

West Group 3: What’s at stake?

Two of the three clubs in this group are defending champions and one is just LA Galaxy. Despite fledgling near the bottom of MLS’s Western Conference, the Galaxy had gone unbeaten in seven straight matches before dropping its final league match ahead of the tournament.

So while Club León and Vancouver Whitecaps FC go into the tournament as favorites to get out of the groups stage, don’t be surprised by an upstart LA Galaxy team desperate to turn its season around.
