This year’s Leagues Cup brings together all 47 teams that make up MLS and LIGA MX. The 45 games that will be played out over the course of the Group Stage will see no less than 30 match-ups between teams from the two leagues.

With the first matchday over after three days of action at Leagues Cup, it’s the MLS teams who have a slender lead in the head-to-head record so far. They have seen off LIGA MX opposition in four games out of seven.

Although the clash between **Club León** and **Vancouver Whitecaps** and the one that pitted **CF Montréal** against **Pumas** both ended in draws, this year’s edition of Leagues Cup features a penalty shoot-out after games that end in stalemate.

In the first of those games, it was La Fiera who came out on top after a historic night, with the penalty shoot-out ending 16-15 after no less than 38 attempts. In the match between Montréal and the Universitarios, the final score in the shoot-out was a comparatively meager 4-2.

In the seven games, MLS teams have found the back of the net 12 times, while LIGA MX outfits have scored 10 goals.
